We were recently contacted by a school nurse Laurel Adibe, who invited Nitty Gritty to attend an Open Day for new and prospective parents at Sebright Primary School in Hackney this week.
We went armed with lots of info and Nitty Gritty Combs and were really thrilled at how many parents came and talked to us.
The first time a parent finds that their child gets head lice can be very upsetting and traumatic and we were keen to assure parents that there was no longer any need to smother their child’s head in stinky chemical treatments.
And there is definitely no need to feel ashamed or embarrassed.
We met lots of the Year 6 children who were acting as chaperones to the parents and what a delightful, smart and enthusiastic bunch they were. Such a credit to their school.
The Nitty Gritty participation was a great success’ we gave away lots of Nitty Gritty Combs and information leaflets are very confident that parents will soon be spreading the word, rather than the lice!
Finally, we would like to thank Laurel and the staff for inviting and looking after us and to the school cooks who gave us a delicious lunch – I can’t believe school dinners have changed so much since I was at school. The mashed potato in particular was just yummy.
