IS NITTY GRITTY SOLUTION SUITABLE FOR ASTHMATICS AND ECZEMA SUFFERERS?
Thousands of asthma and eczema sufferers have used our Nitty Gritty Solution successfully, without any side effects. In fact, several mums have contacted us to tell us that our Nitty Gritty Solution has helped soothe their child’s eczema. For added peace of mind, we suggest you rub a small amount of the product on your child's neck and if there is no reaction after 24 hours, then continue to use, following the instructions carefully. If in doubt, please contact your GP for advice.

IS NITTY GRITTY SOLUTION SUITABLE FOR NUT ALLERGY SUFFERERS?
Nitty Gritty products do not contain any nut oils, and we endeavour to make sure that our ingredients do not come into contact with any nut product at any time during the manufacturing process. One of the ingredients in Nitty Gritty is Neem oil. Neem is not considered a nut, and someone with a nut allergy should not have any problem with products containing Neem. HOWEVER, as it is possible to experience an adverse or allergic reaction to almost any ingredient in any product, we strongly recommend applying a very small 'test' amount of each Nitty Gritty liquid product to the inner arm before use. Wait for 24 hours, to be sure that there is no adverse reaction, before using the product according to the instructions provided.

CAN I USE THE NITTY GRITTY SOLUTION IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?
As mothers first and foremost, we always suggest that while pregnant (particularly in the first three months), nothing should be used to treat head lice other than our Nitty Gritty NitFree Comb with olive oil. This is because, anything at all (including perfume, shampoo conditioner etc) you put on the head or body, gets absorbed into the blood stream in miniscule amounts and possibly could cross into the placenta. This also applies if you are breastfeeding. Again the oils will be absorbed into the blood stream in miniscule amounts and could possibly cross into the breast milk, making the taste of the milk slightly different. This applies to anything though - if you eat a curry, then your baby may get curry flavoured milk! Also if you are using the solution on your child, try and get your partner to do it, or may we suggest using disposable gloves.

WILL THE NITTY GRITTY NITFREE COMB GET OUT ALL THOSE WHITE EMPTY SHELLS THAT ARE STUCK TO THE HAIR SHAFT?
Yes not only does the Nitty Gritty NitFree comb remove all the head lice, but it also clears the hair of ‘live’’ unhatched eggs as well as those unsightly empty shells.

TIPS FOR CLEANING THE NITTY GRITTY NITFREE COMB
We have a few tips for cleaning the comb:

• An old toothbrush or nail brush is useful for removing and cleaning the lice and eggs from the comb. Just make sure that nobody brushes their teeth with it afterwards! Another item which is very good for cleaning the comb is one of the little brushes that come with an electric razor.
• And recently a customer told us she had used dental floss to clean between the teeth when she had finished using the comb on the whole family.
• You can simply run your nail over the tips of the 33 teeth to separate them while it’s under a running tap.
• When finished, you can sterilise the comb in boiling water for one minute. We have trialled this ourselves and if you boil the comb for 1 minute it will be absolutely fine. After 2 minutes, the plastic on the handle was just starting to show signs of melting, so make sure you have a timer handy. Most people however, don't bother with the boiling as lice can't live for very long once off the human head.
• If you want to see what you have removed from the hair, then have a small clear Tupperware bowl filled with water handy and following each stroke with the comb through the hair, give the comb a good swish in the bowl of water to remove any lice or eggs. This will get the majority of them out of the comb. If you are not that bothered about actually inspecting what has been removed, then just rinse it under the tap.

THE BACK OF MY NITTY GRITTY NITFREE COMB LOOKS RUSTY. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
It is not actually rust or corrosion that can be seen on the back of the comb.
During our manufacturing process, the NitFree's 33 MicroSpiral teeth are individually welded to the chassis of the comb, so as to make sure that the space between the teeth is accurate and precise.
Because both the teeth and the handle of the NitFree are made of high-quality stainless steel, this process does produce some discolouration, which is visible through the perforations on the back of the NitFree's handle.

CAN I USE THE NITTY GRITTY SOLUTION ON COLOUR TREATED HAIR?
Yes, the Solution is fine on coloured treated hair as it doesn't contain chemicals. In fact, it makes the most wonderful conditioner leaving the hair in perfect condition. If you still have doubts, just do a "strand test".

HOW DOES THE NITTY GRITTY CONDITIONING DEFENCE SPRAY WORK?
It works because their sense of smell is believed to play a part in the way that head lice detect the presence of a potential new host. We have chosen ingredients, in particular Neem oil, which are known to be insect repellents and which lice just don't like. So because they don't like the smell of the new potential host who has been spritzed with Nitty Gritty Defence Spray, they stay put on their existing host. The distinction between our human natural aromas seems to be why some children, for example, can remain uninfested even when all of their brothers, sisters and parents have hundreds of the little monsters crawling all over them! As well as Neem oil, the other active ingredients are Tea Tree oil, which also has known insect repellent properties, Lavender oil and Grapefruit oil, which we use to neutralise the smell of the Neem Oil, which is not just unpleasant to lice, but to us humans as well. So we neutralise the odour of the Neem oil just enough for it not to be offensive to us, but enough to deter the lice.
